Norse joint venture for Suffolk schools

July 2013

Norse Commercial Services has formed a joint venture, Suffolk Norse, to take over the management of Suffolk county council’s school bus fleet. Under a ten-year £10.3million agreement Suffolk Norse will from 1 February take over 70 vehicles and 130 staff currently employed by Suffolk county council. Norse Commercial Services – which is owned by Norfolk county council - will own 80 per cent of the new company; the balance will be owned by Suffolk county council. Trevor Whiting, service manager with Suffolk council’s passenger fleet department, becomes MD of the new company. Norse commercial director Paul Bonham says: “This is an ideal fit with our existing coach and minibus operations in Norfolk, and will represent good value for money for Suffolk tax payers.
